Fred F. Acheson
June 10, 1923 - January 11, 2010
Fred F. Acheson of Payson died Jan. 11, 2010. He was born June 10, 1923 in the Appleton, Wis. area, where he graduated from high school and enlisted in the Marines.
He became a decorated soldier after serving as a fighter plane tail gunner attacking Japanese planes and destroyers in the Pacific, Solomon Islands, Iwo Jima, Henderson Field and Guadalcanal.
Mr. Acheson retired as a fire captain after serving more than 25 years with California Division of Forestry.
Mr. Acheson was preceded in death by two wives; his first, Joni Acheson and second, Barbara Acheson.
Surviving Mr. Acheson is a brother, James of San Diego, Calif.; two sons in Payson, Mike and Curt; a daughter, Rhonda in Springfield, Ore.; eight grandchildren in Arizona and Washington and many great-grandchildren.
He was great father, love and a very happy person, excepting the Department of Motor Vehicles, writes his family.
Mr. Acheson will have a full military burial at his gravesite in Neenah, Wis.
