George Rigby 1924 - 2010
George Rigby, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, born Nov. 30, 1924 in Norwich Conn., went to be with the Lord, March 20, 2010.
His military duty in the U.S. Navy began in 1943, concluding in 1946, He served as a signalman.
He was involved in many community outreach programs, and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society and VFW adjutant for most of his retirement years.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship and service to those in need. “He was loved by all who knew him. George was a very blessed man of God and will be missed,” his family writes.
His family consists of his surviving wife of 61 years, Florence; daughters, Donna, Cindy, Florence and deceased daughter, Eva. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Dr., from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, with rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 24 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 511 E. St. Phillips St., Payson.
