William Robert Spry
William Robert Spry, U.S. Army (retired), died Sept. 23, 2010 at the age of 79 in Payson. He was born in Marshfield, Wis.
He proudly served his country in Korea and Vietnam, retiring as a sergeant major (E9) and was a holder of the Purple Heart for major injuries suffered in Vietnam.
He has served his communities in the Masons, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Elks.
He is survived by wife of 31 years, Ellen Spry; his children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was well known and well loved by many in Payson, spending his days tootling around town shooting the breeze, among other things, and making people laugh. He loved animals, magic and model trains.
He will be desperately missed by many, writes his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Payson Masonic Lodge No. 70 on Rancho Road. Refreshments will be served. Donations in Bill’s honor may be made to Hospice Compassus, 511 S. Mud Springs Rd., Payson, AZ 85541.
