Leonard Edwin Mennen
Leonard Edwin Mennen, a World War II veteran, left this life peacefully on July 24, 2011 at the age of 97.
He was a beloved member of the Mennen family. Besides serving in World War II as a radio mechanic, he was an avid motorcyclist throughout his life and won numerous trophies in off-road racing in the 1930s.
He retired as a heavy equipment mechanic from C.A.S.E. Company.
Mr. Mennen never married, so he became a second father to all of his nieces and nephews while at the same time taking care of his mother and father during their senior years.
He was born in Burlington, Iowa, but lived most of his life in Phoenix.
“His love for simple things, his caring for people and his humble qualities will remain as living memories in all of us. God’s holy and benevolent peace is with you Leonard. We will all be together again someday,” writes his family.
The Mennen family would also like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff at Rim Country Health and Retirement Community for the love and care that was given to Mr. Mennen over the past few years.
