William Calvin Austin

William Calvin Austin, 88, passed away Nov. 26, 2011 in Payson, Ariz.
He was born Nov. 24, 1923 in Altus, Okla. to William and Dora Austin. He was the youngest of six children.
Mr. Austin served in the United States Army from February 1943 to December 1945. He fought on the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and Purple Heart.
He lived in Phoenix, Ariz. and worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1977.
Mr. Austin has been a resident of Payson for the last 24 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Vera Jean Austin; his daughter, Marilyn Kibbey; brothers, Claude, Clois, Cletis and Carl; and sister, Clara Mae.
Survivors include daughter, Sharon Moore of Tempe, Ariz.; son, Bobby Austin of Gilbert, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix.
