Janet Ann Farrington
July 22, 1941 - December 7, 2011
Janet Ann Pemberton Farrington beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died in peace on Dec. 7, 2011.
Janet was born July 22, 1941 in Lansing, Mich. to Stanley Pemberton and Margaret Hanks. She graduated from Chubberly High School in Palo Alto, Calif. in 1959 and thereafter attended Colorado State University, where she majored in speech therapy and belonged to Delta Sigma Pi sorority. On Sept. 21, 1967, in Los Altos, Calif., she married Lawrence D. Farrington of San Diego. Her son, Richard, was born April 1, 1971 in San Francisco.
Mrs. Farrington was humorously known as the German Viking, being half German and half Swedish. She proudly sported an Arizona plate on her car, inscribed “GRMNVKG.”
She was always involved with community activities and loved meeting people. She was active in the Orange County Philharmonic Society and a longtime volunteer with the Rim Country Chamber of Commerce in Payson.
She loved her monthly meetings with her friends playing Sequence. She was a master bridge player in earlier years and lauded for her gourmet cooking, as attested to by her friends.
She loved to organize and be responsible for results, as exemplified by such achievements as organizing swim and water polo meets on behalf of her son, Richard, of Costa Mesa, Calif.
It was Mrs. Farrington’s wish to be laid to rest in Newport Beach, Calif. where she lived with her husband for 30 years. Plans for her interment are currently in progress there.
