Billy Joe Winchester

Billy Joe Winchester, formerly of Payson, died Jan. 1, 2011 in Albuquerque, N.M. His home at the time of his death was in Edgewood, N.M.
He was born Feb. 7, 1951 in Detroit, Mich., to Noble Butler Winchester and Barbara Jean Winchester.
He attended Mt. Miguel High School, Oregon State University and Arizona State University. He was a member of the National Drug Free Powerlifting Association and played varsity football and track for both OSU and ASU. He was one of Frank Kush’s Sun Devils. Mr. Winchester was recreation director for the Tonto Apache in Payson, and also worked as a specialist at Arizona Boys Ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim.
Mr. Winchester is survived by daughters, Cori and Quanah; sons, Alex and Joe Jr.; brothers, Gary and Robbie; and sisters, Donna, Debbie and Brenda.
A memorial service will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14 at the ASU Hobbs Stadium Club on the 5th floor, south entrance in Phoenix.
