Philip L. Phillips

1936 - 2011

Philip L. Phillips passed away Jan. 19, 2011. He was born March 9, 1936 on a farm at Beanblossom, Ind.; moving to Arizona in 1955.
Following service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was employed by the Phoenix Police Department and later the Tucson Police Department.
He married Hope Helene Hill in 1959. This union produced one son, Randy. In 1962 the family moved to California where he was employed as an insurance investigator and later with the California Department of Corrections from which he retired in 1996 as a lieutenant. Following a divorce, he met and married Sandy J. Bousquet in 1979.
Mr. Phillips has been a member of Lions Club International; belonging to numerous clubs over his 30 some years of membership. He was a district governor from July 2009 to June 2010 and active in the Boy Scouts while living in California, serving as Scoutmaster, commissioner and instructor.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Randy Phillips of Irving, Texas; two grandsons, Chris and Randy Jr.; one granddaughter, Makayla, all of Irving, Texas; three brothers, Don of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Larry of Sonoita, Ariz. and Terry of Annapolis, Md.; one sister, Nancy Northrup of Fountain Hills; and one stepsister, Joanne Lauder of Seaford, Del.
The body will be cremated and inurnment will be at the National Cemetery in Cave Creek.
A church service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30 at the Payson United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31 at the National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Rifle Association, the Salvation Army or Lions Club International Foundation.
