Julia Viola Hamblin
October 6, 1942 - June 23, 2011
Julia Viola Edington Hamblin, 86, of Strawberry, returned to the presence of our Lord on June 23, 2011 in Flagstaff.
She was born Oct. 6, 1942 to Milton and Ethel Edington, the second oldest of six siblings. She was born in Aultman, Ariz. near Camp Verde and spent her formative years in Prescott and Duncan, Ariz. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She met and married her husband, Frank Romell Hamblin Sr. in Flagstaff in 1948. She became a homemaker and mother to eight children. They lived in Flagstaff until 1968 when they moved to Phoenix and resided there until 1993. It was then they moved to Strawberry.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years and her eight children, daughters, Cheryl Mortensen of Strawberry, Kerry Chrisman of Payson, Frances Martz of Tempe, sons, Frank Romell Jr. of Phoenix, Edward of Tonopah, Richard of Avondale, Kimball of Phoenix and Douglas of Tucson. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren, along with her siblings, Everett Edington, Edward Edington, Stanley Edington and Lorainne Hardesty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Milton “Buck” Edington; and grandson, Leonardo Maldonado.
A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 28 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 901 S. Westerly Road.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Pine Ward building, 4641 N. Willow Tree Lane, Pine.
