Robert Blair River
March 17, 1981 - March 1, 2011
Robert (Blair) River passed away March 1, 2011 at the age of 29. He was born in Farmington, N.M. to Bob and Kathy River on March 17, 1981. He graduated from Payson High School in 1999. He would have finished his bachelor’s degree at the University of Phoenix, where he was employed, in October of this year.
Mr. River was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting and camping with his brothers. His father instilled a love for the great outdoors at a very young age. He was a six-time high school state champion for the sports of football and wrestling. He played college football for Mesa Community College.
The love of his life is his 5-year-old daughter, Sascha.
Everyone who knew him loved being around him. He had a great sense of humor and wit, he had a heart of gold and was a gentle giant, writes his family.
Mr. River is survived by his daughter, Sascha; his fiancee, Stacey Bales; mother, Kathy River of Payson; Ryan Brett River of Payson; and Richard Bryce (Whitney) River of Kentucky. He is also survived by grandparents, Ruby and Buzz River of Payson and Ivy Hinton of Mesa; along with numerous wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert River; and brother, Raymond Blake River.
Arrangements are being handled by Messinger Payson Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, March 5 at the Payson LDS Stake Center at 913 S. Ponderosa. Viewing will be at the church at 10 a.m. and the services will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Payson Pioneer Cemetery.
