Elizabeth Lynn Fox
Elizabeth “Betty” Lynn Fox was born Nov. 20, 1920 in Ontario, Canada to Victor and Katharine Ferguson. She had one sister, Louise, born only 13 months later.
In 1943, she married her college sweetheart and singing partner, Fredrick Fox. Soon after, they had their first daughter, Lynda, and 13 months later their daughter, Pat. They eventually settled down and called Pasadena, Calif. home.
While their daughters were young, Mrs. Fox led the Girl Scout troop and was an avid camper, spending most of the family vacations touring the High Sierras.
Throughout the years, Mrs. Fox was an accomplished singer and played piano, organ and recorder. After her husband Fred’s death in 1969, she went back to school for a degree in nursing and later graduated as an R.N. in 1973.
In between that time, she went on a six-week tour to Europe with the William Hall Chorale.
Later in life, she was a music teacher at several elementary schools in San Diego, Calif., where she lived for some time. For the last 10 years, Mrs. Fox lived in Payson and was a member of the Payson Choral Society.
In February 2011 she lost her battle with cancer.
Her two daughters, Pat and Lynda, her three grandchildren and two great-grandsons, survive her.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 19 at the Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main, Payson.
Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Fox’s name to the Payson High School Choral Department, PUSD, P.O. Box 919, Payson, AZ 85547.
