Irene Theresa Weaver
1940 - 2012
Payson resident Irene Theresa Weaver, beloved wife of Richard Weaver for nearly 32 years, passed away July 30, 2012 from cancer and related complications.
She was born June 10, 1940 in Bronx, N.Y. to William and Frances Mutch.
Mrs. Weaver is survived by her daughters, Ellen Keaveney Pettit of Williams and Lisa Keaveney Beckstrom of Forest Lake, Minn.; and son, David Keaveney of Shanghai, China. Also surviving are a brother, William Mutch of Apache Junction; a sister, Doris Caruso of Sheldon, N.Y.; and a stepdaughter, Karin Weaver Heaton of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
On Sept. 27, Irene and Richard were married in Phoenix. For a time in her life, she was a dental assistant and loved that work. In the late 1980s Mrs. Weaver started babysitting her granddaughter April Marie Garrett and eventually decided to start an in-home daycare business. She continued this business for more than 25 years and loved the children in her care and thought of them as her own. She retired from her daycare business Dec. 31, 2005.
Over the years many parents of the children for whom she cared kept in touch with Mrs. Weaver, sending notes and pictures of their children as they grew up.
In early 2006, she and her husband sold their home in Phoenix and late that year moved to Payson.
She had a charming and fun-loving personality and it was easy to become acquainted with her. She was a strong person and all the family expected that she would conquer this battle with cancer, but the complications became just too overwhelming.
A memorial service will be held early next March to allow many family members to be present that would not have been able to attend otherwise.
All of Mrs. Weaver’s family and friends truly loved her, as she did them, and will all miss her more that words can ever express.
