Kenneth Albert LaBadie
August 26, 1931 - July 26, 2012
Kenneth Albert LaBadie, 80, passed away July 26, 2012 in Mesa. He was born Aug. 26, 1931 in Oak Park, Ill., to Harry and Ethel LaBadie.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years in the 1950s. After the Navy he became an ironworker and worked in Chicago, Ill. on the Sears Tower and John Hancock buildings.
Mr. LaBadie moved to Arizona in the 1970s and lived in Phoenix and continued as an ironworker, helping construct the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Station. He later found Payson to be his home. He started a leather repair shop and then later went into shoe repair. After a few years he then did some custom woodwork.
He married his wife, Ellen Pearl Fleming in 1989 and after his wife’s passing in 2009 he lived with his son, Mark, in Mesa.
Mr. LaBadie was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Pearl LaBadie; three children, Jennifer LaBadie, Brett LaBadie and Harold Dean Fleming; and his brother, Earl LaBadie. Mr. LaBadie is survived by his children, Mark Corey LaBadie, Brian Keith LaBadie, Holly Ann Spencer-Shaffer, Elena LaBadie, Larry Dale Fleming, Rhonda Beattie, Byron Fleming, Marshall Daun Fleming, Regina Fleming, Allison Duane Fleming and Rene Mendoza; and his sister, Dorthy Cook. Mr. LaBadie was also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be a private service held by the family.
