Betty E. Barkubein

Betty E. Barkubein of Payson proceeded to her next adventure on Aug. 27, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix
She was born Feb. 14, 1928 to Eldred and Beulah Dunston in Ilasco, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William A. Kenny and Denver Barkubein; sister, Freda Hales; son, William H. Kenny; grandson, Jefferey Calderon; and granddaughter, Bethany Ann Kenny.
She is survived by her daughters, Katie Calderon and her husband Ron of Pine, and Becky Lamont of Puyallup, Wash.; granddaughter, Malika Lamont of Olympia, Wash.; grandson, Thomas Opland and his wife Melissa of Seattle, Wash.; and a great-granddaughter, Ru’ya Lamont of Olympia, Wash.; also surviving are her fuzzy companion, Apollo; and dear friend, Blanche Ryland.
Her professional career consisted of managing two credit bureaus in Washington and Idaho. She loved to read and passed that passion on to her three children by reading aloud to them when they were young. She set an example for her family by all of the organizations for which she volunteered in Gig Harbor, Wash. as well as in Payson.
Mrs. Barkubein lived life to the fullest by traveling the states and the world; enjoyed all of her friends; pinochle was her game; and she loved volunteering at the Senior Circle. And everyone knew that she loved to shop.
There will be an open house celebration of her life from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday Sept. 8 at 717 N. Foxhill Circle, Payson.
