Charles “Chuck” Stailey
August 26, 1932 - December 15, 2012
Charles “Chuck” Stailey, 80, passed away on Dec. 15, 2012 in Payson, from a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born Aug. 26, 1932 in Defiance, Ohio.
He served his country in the Air Force for 22 years and when retired, became commander of the V.F.W. Post in Payson and a life member. He also served on the executive board of the American Legion Post #69 in Payson. In his earlier years, Mr. Stailey filled in as constable for Gila County.
He was very active in his community as a member of the Masonic Lodge and also was a Shriner. He was a Past Worthy Patron of the Ponderosa OES #69 in Payson and a member of the Christopher Creek LDS Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Payson; two brothers, Richard and Donald Stailey; daughter, Michelle Stailey; son, Charles Eric Stailey; and four stepchildren, Bob (Michelle) Halenar, Lori (Vern) Havens, Chris (Craig) Pippin and Richard Scott Halenar; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Chuck and Linda have lived in Payson for 41 years and have loved every minute of every day in God’s country.
The family requests no flowers and no cards, only prayers.
Interment will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4 at the National Cemetery in Phoenix.
