Nona H. Randall
June 30, 1916 - December 23, 2012
Nona H. Randall, 96, longtime resident and pioneer passed away Dec. 23, 2012. She was born June 30, 1916, in Alpine Ariz.
Aunt Nona, as she was fondly called by many who knew her, succumbed after a two-month stay at Rim Country Health Care in Payson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orley S. Randall in December 1979; a grandson, Jason Guin; and a great-grandson, Dalton Randall, who lived with her in Pine.
She is survived by three sons, Terrance O. Randall (Connie) of Pine, A. LaVeri Randall (Lois) of Spokane, Wash. and Randy Randall (Sharron) of Chino Valley; along with 11 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and other extended family members.
Mrs. Randall, maiden name Hamblin, was one of the few remaining grandchildren of the renowned Southwest pioneer and explorer Jacob Hamblin (1819–1886). She was an active member of the Pine Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings of service. She served a two-year mission as an ordinance worker in the Mesa LDS Temple.
She maintained her great sense of humor and kept her mind sharp through reading, crossword puzzles and armchair coaching the Phoenix Suns basketball team, of who she was an ardent fan.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29 at the LDS Pine Ward, Highway 87 in Pine. There will be a viewing an hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Pine Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Rim Country Health facility for their tender, loving care of our mother. A very special thanks to, Candee Randall, for her love, concern and help.
Messinger Payson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
