Mary A. Mullen 1944 - 2012

Mary A. Mullen

“Miss Mary” was born on the 4th of July 1944. She was a Payson native for 18 years, the daughter of Jim and Anna Mae Deming, a pioneer family.
An outsider by the name of Ron Mullen stole Mary away. They were married on July 7, 1962. Mary has two children, James Mullen of Sandpoint, Idaho and Shauna (Matt) Silverman of Scottsdale, Ariz. Her grandchildren are Davey and Krystal (deceased) from Sandpoint, Idaho and Dana, Jake and Sydney Silverman from Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mrs. Mullen spent 25 years in the registrar’s office at Arizona State University. She retired in 1998. She dearly loved working with the students. She made many friends among her co-workers, especially Linda and her “Vegas” buddies. In fact, she made friends wherever she went. As some said, she lit up a room by just entering. Mrs. Mullen was secretary of her RV club and the Arizona Phone Pholks, where she was the “Cat’s Meow” among all.
Mrs. Mullen left her earthly family on Jan. 29, 2012, leaving behind her husband, Ron; children, James and Shauna; brother, Jim; Ron’s sisters, Alice and Ramonda; and her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
On Thursday, Feb. 2 there was an open house. A celebration of Mrs. Mullen’s life will be held at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 26215 Rural Rd., Tempe, Ariz. On Friday, Feb. 3 there will be a Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2121 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, Ariz.
Donations may be made in Mrs. Mullen’s name to Serenity Hospice, 7227 N. 16th Street, Suite 235, Phoenix, AZ 85020-5239.
“I cannot say enough regarding the gentle hands of the staff at Serenity. They made Mamie’s journey a beautiful voyage,” writes her son, James.
