Theodore Berkstresser, 83, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly of Payson, passed away peacefully at his son’s house in Mesa the morning of Dec. 26, 2011.
Mr. Berkstresser had a full and rewarding life. He was born in Johnstown, Pa. and is survived by his brothers, Ken, Len, Don and his sister, Betty. He also is survived by his four sons, Len, Ted, David and James.
He moved to Edison, N.J. in 1952. He retired as an inspector with the state of New Jersey Highway Department after 30 years. He also was a volunteer with the East Brunswick Police Department for many years.
In the late 1980s he retired to Ashville, N.C. He then moved to Payson, Ariz. in 2001 and enjoyed living in the mountain community. He moved in with his son David in Mesa in 2010.
Per his wishes his body was donated to the University of Arizona Medical Center.
He will be dearly missed by his many friends and his family, writes his family.
