September 12, 1948 - July 5, 2012
Keith Sowell passed away peacefully July 5, 2012 in his home in Woodinville, Wash., after a year long battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 12, 1948 in Safford. He graduated from Tempe High School in 1966 continuing on to ASU where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1971. After college he served in the U.S. Army until 1973.
Keith married his wife, Christina, in 1978 in Scottsdale. The couple relocated their family to Bellevue, Wash. in 1985.
Keith had the opportunity to travel and live abroad, sharing lifelong memories with his family while working as the vice president of Telecommunications International, New Business Development for US West. He retired in 1998 and enjoyed spending time with his sons in the garage where they built an endless number of recreation vehicles from the ground up. He also enjoyed traveling with Christina in their motor home, flying RC planes and helicopters, flying stunt kites, and fly-fishing with his buddies.
Keith had a great love for his family and he enjoyed camping and spending time with them more than anything else in life. Keith had the ability to give advice without being offensive and was a mentor to a lot of people worldwide. He had the ability to make everyone feel comfortable in any situation and made friends with everyone he met. He was a true Mr. Fix-it and would often help people he hardly knew. He had an incredible sense of humor that kept everyone laughing all the time, even when he was sick.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Emma Jean Sowell; his wife, Christina; children, Shannan (husband Chris), Ryan (wife Lindsey), Kevin and Garett; brother, Rick; sisters, Jacque Reidhead and Marsha Johnson; grandchildren, Payton, Taylor and Shelby.
