Frances E. Mumford
November 8, 1916 - July 11, 2012
Frances E. Gray Mumford of Payson, formerly of Strawberry and Mesa, passed away July 11, 2012, of Alzheimer’s complications. She was born Nov. 8, 1916 in Shelbyville, Ind.
Mrs. Mumford was active in Mesa when her husband, Lee, was on the Mesa City Council, and was a charter member of the Mano Club.
In Strawberry/Payson she was active in quilting groups, volunteered at the Pine thrift shop/food bank, Isabelle Hunt Memorial Library, and loved to play bingo and canasta with her friends.
Mrs. Mumford is survived by her son, Jim (E. Pat) Mumford of Payson; daughters, Judy (Mike) Dircks of Cave Creek; Mary Ann (Bill) Nitchmann of Charlottesville, Va. and Sally Mumford of Mesa; and niece, Barbara (Bob) Privette of Pine. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Lee Mumford; grandson, Rudd Keller; and sister, Vallie Cornforth.
Mrs. Mumford was a member of the Payson United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 28.
