Mary Jean Tanner
Mary Jean (Korte) Tanner, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 12, 2012.
Mrs. Tanner married the love of her life, Ray, who preceded her in death, in 1942. Together, they raised eight children: Ray Jr. (Patti), Mary Pat, Jim (Cindy), Tom, Teresa (Phil Tiffany), John (Nan), Mike (Lisa) and Cathie (Dan Metteer). She has 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
For Mrs. Tanner, heaven on earth was the beautiful family cabin in Rim Trail that she and Ray built as a second home in 1960, and where every possible moment was spent with the family. It was at the cabin that many life lessons were learned and lifetime bonds were strengthened between family and friends. This is where she felt closest to God and family and where, no doubt, Mary Jean and Ray are now sitting on the swing listening to the soothing sounds of the East Verde River.
A viewing is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 21 at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N. Central Ave.
