Wiburn (Wib) Hollobaugh went to his heavenly home on Nov. 21, 2012 at the age of 97 at the Payson home of his son Fred Hollobaugh.
He was World War II veteran who served in the infantry for three-and-a-half years. After his military service he married Ruth Brunker.
They owned a farm near Farmersburg, Ind. for 17 years. During that time they had three children: Jeane Ann (Pete), Tom and Fred (Alyce).
The family moved to Glendale, Ariz. in 1962 and then Wib and Ruth retired to Payson in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1990. In addition to his three children, he is survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hollobaugh was an excellent handyman with skills in most construction trades and crafts. He loved to go to the forest and cut firewood, which he was able to do until his early 90s.
He had a special heart to help feed the hungry, especially children. He served in the food ministry at First Southern Baptist Church in Payson for many years.
The last two years of Mr. Hollobaugh’s life were spent in the homes of his three children as they shared the responsibility of making their dad as comfortable as possible as his health failed.
Services were held in Payson Tuesday, Nov. 27.
Donations in his name may be made to the food ministry at First Southern Baptist located at the corners of Colcord, Bonita and Ash. The mailing address is P.O. Box 580, Payson AZ 85547.
