Wayne D. Severson
August 11, 1924 - September 24, 2012
Wayne D. Severson was born Aug. 11, 1924 in Valley City, N.D. to Amanda (Pederson) and I. V. Severson, he passed away on Sept. 24, 2012 in Mesa, Ariz. at the age of 88.
Mr. Severson was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and of the CCC. He was an electrician by trade and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. His hobbies were making turquoise jewelry, traveling to 48 states and Alaska, and telling stories about them. He had many adventures with his son Mark, such as rafting the Grand Canyon and salmon fishing in Alaska.
He lived in both Pine and Mesa.
Mr. Severson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; son, Mark; daughter, Gail Boyer; son-in-law, Dick Boyer; and daughter-in-law, Camille Severson. He was preceded in death by son, Vietnam veteran, Dave Severson. He will also be missed by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A service with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. Please sign the guestbook at http://www.shadowmountainmortuary.com/
