Jill Vactor Gunzel
Jill Vactor Gunzel of Sierra Vista for 13 years, moved from Payson the year of 1999.
She was born April 7, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio; went to college at Northwestern University her freshman year and then attended the University of Arizona from which she received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.She taught at both Palo Verde High School in Tucson and Temple Emanuel.
Mrs. Gunzel was a national certified clogging instructor and taught clogging in Sierra Vista for 11 years, a certified square dance caller, author and spoke nationally on the topic of restless leg syndrome. She was Miss University of Arizona and Miss Congeniality 1971. She was a wonderful homemaker and an amazing mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and wife.
She is survived by her son, Jon (Trina) Gunzel; daughter, Julie (Jeremy) Graff; sibling, Drew (Kandie) Vactor; six grandchildren, Wyatt and Abbigail Gunzel, Leslie, Adam, Bailey and Warren Graff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Stephen Gunzel; parents, Alma Kane Vactor and David C. Vactor; and sister, Wendy Sekovich.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 N. Lenzner in Sierra Vista.
