Stephanie (Kimmy) Downing
March 4, 1963 - September 9, 2012
Stephanie (Kimmy) Downing, 49, was called to heaven suddenly on Sept. 9, 2012. (It was her beloved grandmother’s birthday). Kimmy will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Stephanie Kim Downing was born March 4, 1963, and was dearly loved by her parents Gary R. Downing (Lorna Downing) of Show Low and Carrol Lewis Downing also of Show Low. She was the first born of four children and was raised in Phoenix during her childhood and teen years. In 1979 she moved to Show Low with her parents. She was married and started her family shortly after.
She currently resided in Star Valley. She had many challenges in her life, but she had a great zest for living all the way to the finish line. “Our Kimmy was an original; a real character and the life of the party. She kept everyone around her in stitches with her wit and humor,” writes her family.
Ms. Downing loved the outdoors and being with nature. She loved rock hounding, fishing, camping, and working in her yard. Her cats were her passion. She cared for them with great love and tenderness. Music was another passion. She loved singing along with her CDs — she had a song in her heart to the end. She was unpredictable and wonderfully passionate about the things in life most important to her. She was always willing to help those less fortunate.
She was never afraid to disagree or to speak her mind about her opinions. She loved the Lord and was anxious to be with Him. She was greeted in heaven by her beloved maternal great-grandparents Monroe Travis Jenkins and Desha Jenkins, paternal grandparents Ralph Downing and Eva Downing, maternal grandparents Ralph Lewis and Eva Lewis Smith, also Ralph Lewis Jr. and his son Ricky Lewis.
She leaves behind her two adored sons, Abriam Tyler Downing of Tennessee and Joshua Samuel Begay of Concho. She was a grandmother of five: Sawyer Jake Hansen, Jayden Downing, Trevor Gilles, Thommous Begay and Aurrianna Begay. Also surviving are her brother, Russ Downing (Judy St. John-Downing) of Show Low; sisters, Danelle Downing-Cromwell of Payson and Cali Downing-Ford (Travis Ford) also of Show Low; four nephews and two nieces; and lastly, her two cats, Turbo and Sissy.
The family wishes to thank all her family and friends for the support and has special gratitude for Rim Guidance for their loving care and continued support to Stephanie.
A private memorial will be held in celebration of her life on Saturday, Sept. 22. For more information or to share condolences, please visit http://www. owensmortuary.com.
