Ruth G. Wallace

January 15, 1927 - April 11, 2013

Ruth G. Wallace took her last earthly breath and her first heavenly one April 11, 2013. She will get to celebrate her wedding anniversary with her loving husband, Dave, in heaven this year.
She is survived by two children, Vicki Jackson (Bob) and Craig Wallace (Alana); six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was born Ruth Barger on Jan. 15, 1927 in Decatur, Ill. During World War II, she and her mother took civil service positions in Key West, Fla. and Ruth sang with the USO Band on the Navy base.
Within a year they were promoted and moved to Washington, D.C. to work at the Pentagon. After moving back to Illinois, she worked as a surgical LPN and a Realtor.
In 1959, she came to Phoenix and became an executive secretary and bookkeeper. She was an active member and assistant director of the Phoenix Kachina Sweet Adeline Chorus. She met her husband, Dave, through music as he performed in barbershop quartets.
In 1975 they moved to Page. While Dave worked for SRP, Mrs. Wallace enjoyed owning a beauty salon and served as choir director at their church.
In the fall of 1994, they moved to Payson and became very active at Mountain Bible Church. Mrs. Wallace was known as the “soup lady,” bringing homemade soup to those ill and homebound, and was the church’s first wedding coordinator.
She also provided baskets and children’s items for New Beginnings and the Time-Out Shelter.
She will be buried beside her husband in the family plot at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City. A graveside committal service will be held there at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 20.
