Donna L. Burba
May 6, 1931 - April 24, 2013
Donna L. Burba (nee Goodwin), 81, of Thompson, Ohio passed away April 24, 2013 in Payson. She was born May 6, 1931 in Trenton, Utah and moved to Thompson after she married, where she lived with her husband and family for 40 years.
She attended Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio where she graduated in 1970 with a degree in education. She was a well-loved and respected teacher at Ledgemont Elementary School in Thompson, Ohio for 25 years. She loved being a teacher and nothing brought her greater joy than seeing or hearing from former students. She always remembered who they were and where they sat in her classroom.
Her love of teaching was second only to her love of her family. She was a devoted and loving wife to John Burba Sr. for over 59 years until he passed in 2011. She gave a new meaning to the vow in sickness and in health when she selflessly and faithfully cared for her sick husband for his last 10 years of life, ensuring that his remaining time on earth was comfortable and well taken care of. And in turn, her children did the same for her.
Mrs. Burba is survived by her children, Debbie (Woody) of Payson, John of Madison, Ohio and Rodney (Janelle) of Payson; grandchildren, Trinity, Todd, Tricia, Rodney Jr., Johnny, Raeann, Zac, Zoe, Natalie, Melissa and Michelle; great-grandchildren, T.J., Johnny, Riley, Bailey, Gavin, Rylan, Ashlyn, Abigail, Amber Rae, Dennis Jr., Nolan, Jason and Destiny; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She touched every one of our lives and made us feel special. Her selfless nature and sweet personality will be deeply missed, writes her family.
Memorial donations in Mrs. Burba’s name may be made to the Rim Country Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 305, Payson, AZ 85547.
