Leonard “Edward” Zebrowski
December 15, 1927 - December 13, 2013
(Edward) Leonard Zebrowski was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Chicago Ill. and passed away Dec. 13, 2013 at Payson Hospice Compassus. He is survived by Carol, his wife of 60-plus years; son Bruce of Lakeside, Calif.; daughter Carolen Merkley, and her husband Donald Bartel of Fallbrook, Calif.; daughter Lisa and her husband (Chip) Ralph Semrau of Chandler, Ariz.; as well as five grandchildren, Heidi Spotten, Jonathan Merkley, Eric Spotten, Katrina Zebrowski and Amy Zebrowski of La Mesa, Calif.
He served in the Army Corps of Engineers where he was stationed in the Philippines and upon discharge, he became a photo engraver in Chicago, a trade he pursued for more than 40 years. Upon retirement, he and Carol moved to Northern Wisconsin and built a house on Two Sisters Lake, where he enjoyed country life and fishing to his heart’s content. In 1998, the couple moved to Payson. He was a member of St. Philip’s Church and the Senior Center where he enjoyed the Tuesday and Friday Pinochle games.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, and burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 19 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix.
