Norman Franklin Hook
Norman Franklin Hook, 81, of Payson, passed away Jan. 1, 2013 at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Janet M. Hook; four daughters, Judith M. (Kevin) Smith of Arkansas, Suzan A. (Kurt) Hatteberg of Colorado, Sheila A. (James) Baumgartner of Minnesota and Donita F. (John) Johnson of Florida; three sons, Neal F. (Nancy) of Michigan; Thomas E. (Dawn) and David A. (companion Wendee), both of Arizona. He is also survived by three sisters, Lorraine Singleton of Maryland, Joyce Haslacker and Jean Haslacker, both of West Virginia; and one brother, John Hook of West Virginia. Survivors also include 16 grandchildren, Monica Burton, Sherri Cole, Tiffany, Courtney, Zachary and Kevin Hook, Karl and Jared Hatteberg, Theresa Myers, Christopher O’Neal, Alexis and John Curtis Johnson, Jacque Joslin and Brittanie, Timothy and Makayla Hook; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hook retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after 28 years in the Air Force. He was a life member of the VFS, American Legion 40/8 and Eagles Clubs. He served as a mechanic of T35 bombers and tankers, moving on to quality control. He often spent 30 to 60 days overseas and sometimes up to a year at a time.
He greatly enjoyed sitting outside in the morning watching the sunrise and then in the evening identifying stars and constellations.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5 at Tonto Valley Bible Church in Gisela, with a celebration of life following at the Gisela Community Center.
