1929 - 2013
Jean Cloudt was born in Prescott on May 14, 1929 to Edith and Lyle Wells. She grew up in Humboldt, Ariz. and in 1947 married Francis Cloudt.
They moved to Gila County where they took care of several ranches before opening a feed store in Payson. Mrs. Cloudt also worked at the Payson Hospital for many years.
In 1978 Lorenzo Gonzales came from New Mexico and Mrs. Cloudt offered him a place at the feed store to open the Rim Country Veterinary Clinic. Jean and Lorenzo worked side by side for the next 30 years until she retired in 2007.
Mrs. Cloudt loved to ride and to hunt, and you never saw her without a dog at her side. She passed away quietly at her home on June 16, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Bozick; her brothers, Fred and Homer Wells; her husband, Francis Cloudt; and her great-great-grandson, Trystan Frye. Jean is survived by her sons, Mark and Francis; her daughters, Cherie and Edith; her granddaughter, Janna Cline and her three sons, and by 11 other grandchildren and six additional great-grandchildren; by her brother, Lyle Wells; and by her friend and partner, Lorenzo Gonzales.
The family asks that donations in Mrs. Cloudt’s name be made to woundedwarriorproject.org.
