John A. Miller
1927 - 2013
John (Jack) A. Miller of Payson passed away March 11, 2013 after a long illness. He was born Feb. 13, 1927 in Albany, N.Y. and was raised in Beverly, Mass. and lived in New Wilmington, Pa. He moved to Payson in 1983 and lived here for more than 30 years.
Mr. Miller served in the Navy during World War II as a pharmacist mate.
He attended school at Franklin Institute in Boston, Mass. and Hydrolic Institute in Youngtown, Ohio.
Mr. Miller was a 33rd degree Mason Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for more than 50 years.
He was a worker for Sharon Steel in Sharon, Pa. for 32 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Harriet Miller; wife, Patricia; and son, Robert.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan D. Barton, manager of the floral department at Safeway in Payson; granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Holzworth; grandsons, Casey K. and Michael M. Barton; great-granddaughter, Maddison C. Holzworth; and great-grandson, Aaron T. Holzworth, all of Windsor, Va.; brother, Bruce Miller; and stepbrother, David Potter; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 20 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 901 S. Westerly Rd.
