Glen Brooks

Glen Heber Brooks of Mesa, formerly of Payson, passed away March 19, 2013 at the age of 91.
He was born July 23, 1921 to Bert Josiah and Lottie Mae Brooks in Murray, Utah. He graduated from Mesa High in 1939 and served in the U.S. Air Force at Williams AFB in 1942 as a trainer instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1944 at the government’s request to farm cotton for the war effort.
He married Katie Reed on April 18, 1942 and was married for 26 years. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Brooks graduated with distinction from Arizona State University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
In 1968 he married Vera Mae Campbell and was married for 34 years. She also preceded him in death.
Mr. Brooks was a High Priest and a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). He and Vera served an LDS Mission at the Mesa Temple in 1986, and then in 1989, served another mission at the Visitors Center in New York City.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his children, Glen Heber Brooks Jr. (Ron), Reed Brooks (Jane), Deborah Brooks Gillespie (Weston), Denise Brooks Crandall (David), Gayle Isaacson Garfield, Linda Isaacson Gibbens (Larry).
Deceased, but always in Glen’s heart is Katie (wife), Kathleen Glenda Brooks (daughter), Vera (wife), Dale Brooks (grandson), Cody White (great-grandson), and Connor Ray Gillespie (great-grandson).
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
The viewing and the funeral will be at the LDS church at 4640 East Holmes Ave. in Mesa. The viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, March 22 and the funeral will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 23 with a family viewing one hour prior.
