Geraldine “Geri” N. Schmitt

Geraldine “Geri” N. Schmitt, formerly of Payson, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 in Flagstaff, Ariz.
She was born in Campton, Ky. July 14, 1919 to James and Candas Netherly. She had one brother, Malcolm and had lost her father at an early age.
Geri met her husband, Harold “Hal” Schmitt, in Hamilton, Ohio and they were married in 1939 until his death in 1997. They moved to Payson in 1967 and were married exactly 58 years.
She was a nurse by profession, and worked for Dr. Lacy in Payson for many years. Geri was a member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church of Payson and enjoyed studying the Bible.
Geri is survived by four daughters: Judy Heuring (Ed), Gilbert Ariz.; Sandy Vreeland (Harry), Williamsburg, Va.; Marti of Tempe, and Susan of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Rob Schmitt (Marcilita), Flagstaff, Ariz. She also had three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her brother, Malcolm, passed away in 1990.
Friends are invited to the visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at the Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 901 S. Westerly Rd. The graveside service will follow at noon at Payson Pioneer Cemetery, 501 S. Vista Rd. Pastor David Sweet will be officiating.
