Eva Marie Richards

January 20, 1930 - October 7, 2013

Eva Marie Richards, 83, passed over peacefully on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 and was reunited with her beloved husband, Frank (Bus).
She was born on Jan. 20, 1930 to Bill and Annie Johnson in Deer Lodge, Mont. where she attended school. It was there that she met the love of her life, Frank Richards, and they were married on April 4, 1947. They had two children, Alan and Lana Sue. In 1964 they moved to Missoula, Mont. where Eva continued to work at the Forest Service as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1979. At that time they moved to Salmon Lake where they resided until they moved to Payson, Ariz. in 1997. She spent the last year in Chandler, Ariz. so she could be close to her daughter and her family.
Eva was active in the Lutheran Church and was very proud of her time as a caregiver in the Stephan Ministries Program. She spent lots of time with her grandchildren at the Salmon Lake, taking them on outings and teaching them the names of all the birds and wildflowers. Eva used her creativity to make these outings magical by giving made-up names to places, animals and flowers. One of her favorite excursions was to take her grandchildren to the outlet of Salmon Lake, which she named Singing Waters, to look for cranes that she called Gus.
Frank and Eva loved to camp and took their motor home from Baja, Mexico to Arctic Circle, Alaska. After Frank retired, they enjoyed spending winters in Lake Havasu, Ariz. where they fished and golfed.
Eva will be remembered as a compassionate person who instilled her values, attributes and faith in her family. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and son, Alan. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Bob Rock, Chandler, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Patti Richards, Pleasant Grove, Utah; four grandchildren, Tawni (Dan) Herold, Longmont, Colo., Heather (Nick) Phillips, Boring, Ore., Jon Rock, Mesa, Ariz. and Amber Rock, Chandler, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Kaila, Jessica and Sophie Herold, Courtney and Ashley Laughlin, Cody Phillips, and Kirsten Cotner; three nieces, Artha Enman, Marianne Anderson and Aimee Kniaziowski; two nephews, Larry Newman and Jeff Johnson; and her constant companion, Miss Molly, her little dog.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Payson, Ariz.
