Alta Rose Dudley
Alta Rose Dudley, daughter of Sammie and Dorothy Garrels, was born in 1944 in Phoenix.
She is survived by her husband and soul mate of over 51 years, Norman; their son, Timothy (Michelle), and his girls, Taylor and Samantha (Joey Swope); and their daughter, Nicole, and her sons, Noah and Ryan; her sister, Beverly (Don), and their two children, Craig (Paula) and Mark (Linda), and their two children, Julie and Hayden; a younger brother, Lester, and his two children, Cody and Karen; and many other family members and countless friends.
Mrs. Dudley lived her entire life in Payson, never leaving except for vacation; she attended all 12 years of her schooling at the old rock building at Julia Randall Elementary School. She enjoyed volunteering for the Payson Woman’s Club and the Payson Pioneer Cemetery. Her dozens of handmade quilts are treasured by the lucky recipients of her creativity and generosity.
She passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix on Friday, Oct. 18.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Tonto Apache Reservation Gym. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Payson Pioneer Cemetery or the Leukemia Foundation.
