Julie Anne Page-Shipp
January 12, 1941 - October 17, 2013
Julie was born Jan. 12, 1941 on the family farm in Page Springs, Ariz., to J. Edgar and Dorothy Page. She passed away peacefully at home Oct. 17, 2013, in Payson, Ariz. after succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease.
She attended grade school at the little red schoolhouse in Cornville, Ariz. Her freshman through junior years were at Cottonwood High School and she graduated from Mingus Union High School in Clarkdale, Ariz. in 1959. After graduating, she went to work at First National Bank of Arizona in Cottonwood, Ariz. as a teller.
In 1961 she married John (Skipper) Shipp of Cottonwood. Later they moved to Glendale, Ariz. where she worked as a purchasing agent for the Glendale Elementary School cafeteria food service department. She retired after 25 years of service. Julie and John had built their retirement home in Payson and moved there in 1997. There they became active with the Zane Grey Twirlers Square Dance Club and Payson Packers Hiking Club.
She loved to travel, especially to faraway places. She enjoyed camping and fishing and often caught more fish than John. Julie liked to play cards and was an avid cribbage player. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking cookies to give to friends and neighbors at Christmas time. She will always be remembered as a kind, caring elegant lady by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John; sons, Dale and Craig of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Joseph Sydney Birch of Cornville, Ariz. and Jack Page of Phoenix, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial Mass held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 511 S. St. Philip’s Street, Payson, Ariz. Family has requested donations be sent to Hospice Compassus, 511 S. Mud Springs Rd., Payson, AZ 85541.
