Competing against students in 10 area towns, Payson's Carolyn
Converti took third place in the district essay contest sponsored
by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Converti's entry, "Freedom's
Obligation," earned her $200, the Voice of Democracy award and a
VFW patch.
