Apache Scouts at Fort Apache. General Crook toured the military
posts that hemmed in the Tonto Apaches, and recruited a company of
White Mountain Apaches to be scouts. Later, after the Army had
defeated the Tontos, Tonto Apaches would also become scouts helping
in the chase for Geronimo.
