John and Ilona Swenson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 16. They were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho. The couple retired and built their home in Payson in 2000.
The Payson Senior Center facility has become more accessible with the recent installation of a chair glide. Purchased with funds from Gila County, the chair has a weight limit of 300 pounds and is ADA compliant, which opens up the upper room for many uses. Scout Registration Night is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at Mount Cross Lutheran Church, 601 E. Highway 260 (in the big log cabin). The different groups are Girl Scouts for girls in grades K-12, Cub Scouts for boys in grades 1-5, and Boy Scouts for boys in grades 6-12. A new Scout program is starting for young men and women, ages 14 to 21 -- Adventure Scouts. Volunteers are always welcome and needed.
