Reliever Bryce Goodman was the pitcher of record in the Payson Little League 9-10-year-old All-Star's 14-6 victory over Flagstaff Mt. Elden. Goodman also had a ground-rule double after his hit bounced over the outfield fence. Little League play continues this week.

Oliver (Ollie) Charles Rische was born Aug. 9, 1916 to Fredrick and Magdaline Rische. He was married to Pauline Rische for 62 years. She preceded him in death April 17, 2006. Survivors include daughters Sandra Blatter of Townsend, Tenn. and Ruth Klaver of Payson, Ariz., grandsons, Scott Velde of San Clemente, Calif., Andrew Bierle of San Jose, Calif., and granddaughter, Sheryl Velde of San Jose, Calif., great-grandsons, Zack Rosa of San Jose, Calif., Nicholas Velde of Flagstaff, Ariz. and great-granddaughters, Monique Velde, Carlsbad, Calif. and Angelina Bierle, San Jose, Calif. Mr. Rische served in World War II as a first lieutenant at Camp Breckenridge, Ky. He served as Commandant Adjutant for the German POW’s. The family wishes to thank the staff at Payson Care Center for all the care and friendship that they provided. There will be no immediate services. The burial for Pauline and Oliver Rische will be held at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, 335 W, Round Valley Rd, Payson, Ariz. at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Rische’s name to RTA Hospice, 511 S. Mud Springs Road, Payson, AZ 85541. After services there will be a “Celebration of Life” luncheon at his daughter’s home, Lot #9627 Gibson Ranch Road.
Ruby Loraine Longberry died June 21, 2008, one day before her 75th birthday. Born in Wilmington, Ohio in 1933, she is survived by her husband of 51 years, Clyde H. Longberry. Also surviving are her three children Gary Longberry of Coshecton, Ohio, Darlene Hopkins of San Marcos, Calif. and Loralyn Werle of Tehachapi, Calif. and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Longberry was well known for her artistic talents of painting, decorating and crafting. No services are planned.
Thelma Verdell “Dale” Lindo died June 19, 2008, at her home in Payson, Ariz. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas March 14, 1932, to John H. Bridges and Rachel Mathews Bridges. She is survived by her husband, Ralph A. Lindo and daughter, Stephenie Diaz, both of Payson, sons, Joel Wood of Longmont, Colo., Ron Lindo of San Jose, Calif. and Michael Lindo of Parker, Colo., her brother, Darvin Bridges of Stephenie, Texas, 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. There are no services planned at this time. Contributions in Mrs. Lindo’s name may be made to RTA Hospice, 511 S. Mud Springs, Payson, AZ 85541.
Ruth E. Ginter was born in Painesville, Ohio April 1, 1926 and died in Payson, Ariz. June 25, 2008, after a heroic struggle against Alzheimer’s disease. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard E. Ginter, M.D., Radiology, who died in 2004. She is survived by their children: Greg, Lindsey, Timothy, Sue, and Garth, and their spouses, Alyce, Mai, Dennis, and Louise, and grandchildren, Marianne, Erika, Eden, Graham, Wesley, Rose Diana, and Joseph Richard, and several great-grandchildren. Formerly of Sacramento, Calif., where she raised her family, Mrs. Ginter was an accomplished and award-winning equestrian — a skill she developed late in life One home bedroom was wall-to-wall ribbons and trophies. Her Prince Leo Lauro — a 17-hand high quarter horse — was nationally ranked. She reveled in riding him and other horses, in Western Pleasure classes, in both regional and national championships, including the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Stanley Ray Fuller Sr., 89, born Aug. 23, 1918 at Cove Ranch, in Strawberry, died June 12, 2008 in Mesa. He was preceded in death only three months ago by his wife of almost 67 years, Elvira. He has seven children. His oldest daughter, Mariam, preceded him in death as an infant. Surviving are Ray (Pert), Chris (Janet), Carl (Evy), Tom (Cinnamon), JaNeen, Merriann (Paul Cady), 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren. He grew up on the Y-H Ranch in Strawberry. Served a mission for the LDS church, meeting his eternal companion, Elvira Jensen of Alberta, Canada. They married in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple Dec. 19, 1941. Mr. Fuller was a Navy medic assigned to the Marines. He served at Iwo Jima in World War II. After the war, he worked with his father on the Y-H Ranch, buying the cattle permit and homestead from his father. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Fuller served as an ambassador for Jesus Christ on 26 missions, and is now on his 27th. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 5 at Crismon LDS Church, 454 N. Crismon Rd. Mesa. A graveside military honors service will be at 4:30 p.m. at Cove Ranch in Strawberry.
Robert R. Barela, a 13-year resident of Star Valley and well known Rim Country artist died at the age of 69, June 20, 2008 in Newport Beach, Calif. after a six-week battle with a fungal type of pneumonia. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his mother, Emily, children Zina Jabi, Robert Barela Jr., Ted O’Barr, Gretchen Juergens and Becky Brown and 10 grandchildren. He was an active member of Mountain Bible Church, the Payson Art League and a former member of Artists of the Rim Gallery. A celebration of life will be held at Mountain Bible Church at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12.
