The Gracie Lee Haught Children’s Memorial Fund is once again having a costume party and fund-raiser at the Mazatzal Casino. The theme of the fourth annual costume party is “Breaking Records 1950s Style.” The party is at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4. Tickets for the entire evening are $20 per person with costume and $25 per person without costume. All proceeds benefit the Gracie Lee Haught Children’s Memorial Fund, which is dedicated to promote and support the health, safety and wellness of local children. The Payson Humane Society trotted out some current residents of the animal shelter to announce plans to go ahead with a new shelter on the existing site. Also attending were board members Lisa Boyle, Ellie Watson, Myrna Tipps, Barbara Brenke, John Wakelin and Dorothy Young. Staff members include Chris Durbin, Crystal Hoffner, Travis Henderson and Kenny Wright.
Chris Higgins, new owner of Scoop’s Ice Cream Shop, digs deep into the bubble gum flavored ice cream as he serves up a delightful treat for a new customer.
Nathan Streater serves up a scoop or two of Abby Christianson’s favorite flavor, which just happens to be mint chocolate chip, at Scoop’s Ice Cream Shop.
Entrants in the inaugural Team Roping and Breakaway Clinic take a break in the action to pose for the camera. The clinic was held at the Payson Event Center and sponsored by the parks and recreation department.
All season long senior middle hitter Jenna Robertson (6) has been a force at the net. In the Lady Horns’ Sept. 25 win over Show Low, she also shined from the service line.
Dustin Wyatt Shepherd was born at 6:06 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 to parents Wyatt and Angela Shepherd at Payson Regional Medical Center. He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19-1/4 inches long.
Anna Mercedes Madrid was born at 7:57 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 to parents Sergio and Lidia Madrid at Payson Regional Medical Center. She weighed 5 pounds, 9 ounces and was 18-1/2 inches long.
Jessa Marie Tenney was born at 3:16 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 to parents Jared and Kadi Tenney at Payson Regional Medical Center. She weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20-1/2 inches long. She joins Ali, Cole and Braden at home.
Kodi Orion Ivey was born at 10:02 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 to parents John and Tonna Ivey at Payson Regional Medical Center. He weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19-1/4 inches long.
Starr Elaine Laska was born at 11:45 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 to parents Timothy and Candice at Payson Regional Medical Center. She weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.
