The 12th Annual Payson Humane Society Chili Supper takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3 at the Payson Elks Lodge, 1206 N. Beeline Highway. Warm up with a tasty meal of chili, mac and cheese, salad, rolls and homemade cupcakes. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12; available in advance at the Payson Public Library or the animal shelter at 812 S. McLane Road, or at the door the night of the event. There will also be great door prizes, terrific raffle items, a 50/50 raffle and much more. All proceeds will benefit the homeless animals of Rim Country. For more information, call (928) 474-5590.

The very first yard sale of the Hellsgate Fireflies, Tonto Village Chapter, was held this past Saturday at station No. 22. The sale was a success and will be repeated sometime in the spring.

Apache Trail — Historic Route 88’s first job was to aid in the construction of Roosevelt Dam at the turn of the century. Now it carries boaters and adventurers on the back route from the Valley to Rim Country.
Zack Ulmer, 10, practices his archery skills for a shoot the Tonto Rim Sports Club will hold Nov. 9 at the Jim Jones Shooting Range. Registration is at 7 a.m. and competition will include 28 3D targets. The registration fee is $30 for families, $20 for adults and $15 for youth. Children under 14 years shoot for free.
