Lexi Ward, 6, gets ready to push the plunger into a gaily wrapped Christmas package to light the official community tree. About 150 people attended the first-ever community event to kick off the Christmas season in Rim Country.

Festival of Lights: The Pine Strawberry business community on Saturday night staged the first Festival of Lights, with a mini-parade, live music, a tree lighting ceremony, caroling and a visit from Santa. Deb Schwalm and Sherri Earp led the parade.
The annual Elks Lodge Thanksgiving dinner fed hundreds of people this past Thursday. Turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls and even several types of pies were served up by volunteers to those in attendance.
The Payson High School Modern Choir Carolers (above) sang Christmas carols from a balcony to put all those shoppers in the holiday mood.
Light it up: The Swiss Village drew a good crowd and a heavenly host of singers on Friday for its traditional lighting ceremony. Allie Armistead and Lacey Smith with Dancing on the Rim impressed the crowd.
