Last Sunday’s concert featured Pete Pancrazi (vocals and guitar), Vic Kottner (bass), Claudia Bloom (piano), and Gerry Reynolds (drums). Local musician Bob Tarallo sat in for a few numbers playing clarinet and sax. Pancrazi is a big favorite with Rim Country jazz fans and this was his sixth year of doing the Christmas concert.
Gila County Supervisor Shirley Dawson, Recycling and Landfill Manager Sharon Winters and Supervisor Mike Pastor admire the discarded bikes that were pulled from the landfill and refurbished by Department of Corrections inmates for distribution to eligible children all over Gila County for Christmas.
Churches throughout the Rim Country are planning special services for the Christmas season. This Sunday, Mount Cross Lutheran Church will have its Christmas Cantata at 8:30 a.m. and a sermon and song service at 10:30 a.m. It will have candlelight services at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., Christmas Eve. Ponderosa Baptist Church has a special light display, “Journey to Bethlehem,” each evening, and on weekends it is enhanced with live music. The church will have a special concert at 6 p.m., Christmas Eve. Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church will have a candlelight service at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and a Christmas Day service at 9 a.m. Calvary Chapel’s Christmas Eve service is at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 24. First Baptist Church in Pine will have two candlelight services on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Look for more Christmas services in Tuesday’s Roundup. Churches wishing to have holiday services listed should have the information to the Roundup by noon, Monday, Dec. 21; e-mail tmcquerrey@payson.com or drop off at 708 N. Beeline Highway.
As the 2009 H1N1 influenza begins to fade from the media spotlight, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) reminds parents and caregivers of the need for a second dose of H1N1 vaccination for young children. The lack of a second vaccination can increase the possibility for serious health risks in certain groups. Kourtni Hage holds son Hudson as he receives his H1N1 flu shot at Julia Randall Elementary School, Friday, Dec. 11. The Seasonal Flu Vaccine can also be received by anyone, and is available at the Gila County Health Department. Unlike the H1N1 vaccine, which is free, there is a $30 charge for the Seasonal Flu Vaccine. Please call ahead to assure a nurse is available to administer the shot at (800) 304-4452, ext. 8811 for the Payson area.
John Makosiej took over ownership of Famous Sam’s in early November and immediately instated new daily promotions.
Charles dons his jeweler’s glasses to view the track up close for proper alignment of two sections. If tracks aren’t aligned properly, all sorts of problems rear their ugly heads and delay the operation of running a model train successfully.
There’s Santa waving from the caboose. Technology has kept pace in the railroad hobby arena, as this train has a computer chip embedded in it that can broadcast music, train sounds or announcements of your choice.
