Believing ‘because they matter’

Meet some members of the Lonely Hearts Club
The Lonely Hearts Club — This group of animals are those who have been with us for longer than six months. You will see by their bios that their long stays really are no fault of their own. They are all good guys who were brought into this life by irresponsible pet owners who offered little or no stability, let alone training and tender loving care. We have given all these to them in large doses, and they have grown into beautiful animals.

June is Adopt a Shelter Animal Month
It’s another busy day here at the Humane Society of Central Arizona.
Reflections on 2008
2008 is now in the past. It was a very busy year here at the shelter. There were many highs and lows. We handled roughly 830 dogs, 608 cats and 14 “others.” Among the others were a pregnant mini goat, an angry Pot Bellied Pig, two geese, a couple of ducks, several bunnies, ferrets and a guinea pig.
