The new, crimson curtains replaced 20-year-old ones that school officials said were ripped and dirty. The $20,000 project was financed through Credit For Kids money donated to the Fine Arts Fund, and with help from the Tonto Community Concert Association. Other recent improvements made with money from the Fine Arts Fund and with the concert association’s help include new house lighting, upgraded stage lighting and sound system, and the restoration of a grand piano to performance condition.

Roundup columnist Jinx Pyle will be signing copies of his new book “Pleasant Valley War” at the Rim Country Museum Saturday, June 6. Call the museum at 474-3483 for times. He recently had a successful signing at the site of the book — Young. Pyle has reopened his Git A Rope Trading Company at 408 W. Main St., Suite 4, and has copies of the book there. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Emily Giarrizzeo, ever the trooper, races to the finish line after capturing the ring and swimming twenty five yards as fast as possible. The first swim meet of the season was conducted Saturday, May 30 at Taylor Pool.
