Roy Pool and Nicole Scott stood before Cynthia Pool’s students, faculty and friends and shared stories of remembrance during a memorial service held Wednesday evening at Payson High School. PHS chemistry teacher Cynthia Pool died June 9 in a bicycle accident in Wyoming.
Curt Rambo, of Tonto Basin, is one of the most accomplished and respected crappie anglers in the state. He has fished Roosevelt Lake for decades.

The 31st Annual Deep Pit Bar-B-Que takes place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at the Payson Masonic Lodge, 200 E. Rancho Road. The meal includes meat, fixin’s, drink and dessert at a cost of $8 for adults and $5 for children.
In spite of the cool weather and javelina, the 100-square-foot patches in the Payson Community Garden still have flowers and vegetables to be tended.

Flowers in the Payson Community Garden were spared a recent attack by javelina. The destructive creatures preferred the tender vegetable plants that were just starting to grow.
