Bear Canyon Lake is a great place for fishing, although this man was not having much luck. A state budget impasse may keep Arizona Fish and Game from stocking Rim Country lakes before the busy July 4 holiday weekend.

15 lucky youngsters will learn to quilt from the Strawberry Patchers during July. The quilt group is teaching a class for the Pine Library’s summer program. The deadline to register is July 1. Each participant will leave the project with a completed 48-inch-by-56-inch quilt.

The Rim Country Rotary Club of Payson was pleased to have Chelsea Smith as the Student of the Month for May. Chelsea was chosen by the faculty and staff of Payson Center for Success High School for this honor. Chelsea was able to finish two years of high school in one year, and she now plans to attend Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado in preparation for a career in biomedical engineering.
