Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church is opening a mission church in Tonto Basin. The mission church will use the building belonging to the Punkin Center Baptist Church at 441 McLellan Drive. The culmination of the effort to start the Tonto Basin Lutheran Church will start with an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 21. Services will start Saturday, March 28 and will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Payson Women’s Golf Association 18-hole group, shown during a recent meeting, will tee off its 2009 season at 8 a.m. March 31 during a breakfast to be held at the Small Café. Tournaments are then played each Tuesday throughout the summer and fall.
