Lee and Dora Davis attended the dedication for the Spade Ranch House exhibit at the Rim Country Museum Wednesday. Mr. Davis crafted the model of the pioneer home on Webber Creek under the Mogollon Rim. Built more than 100 years ago, the original portion was once home to Frank and Molly Herron who homesteaded 160 acres there.
The Payson Supply Line fund-raiser, “Operation Christmas Blessing,” hosted by Rim Country Health and Retirement, Granny’s Attic and 260 Cafe raised $6,079 during its event Saturday. More than 10 bags of physical supplies were dropped off for the troops. Volunteers and more than 65 community merchants donated their services/products as raffle items for the event. Dave Geruso (left) and Omar Mneimne work together to put a new door frame in at Frontier Elementary School. The construction is part of the security measures being taken at all of the schools. Soon, fences will go up and the entrance they are working on will be the only way to get into the school. Geruso, Mneimne and Randy O’Donnall are employees of Woodruff Construction.

Harold Rush used a long exposure in this photo of a waterfall. The long exposure gives the flowing water a “fog” or “cotton candy” effect to the water, while leaving the details of the stream sharply in focus.
The Payson Learning Institute will benefit from the proceeds of the upcoming ‘Best of Broadway’ concert, which will be presented at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22. Tickets are now available for only $15 per person at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce or by calling (928) 472-3393. The show will feature professional stage singers and an 18-piece theatre orchestra conducted by John Massaro.
The caterpillars of swallow-tail butterflies feed almost exclusively on wild cherry and ash trees so that the winged form can pollinate an array of Rim Country flowers.

Local State Farm Insurance agents Ted Pettet and Deborah Barber present a $2,000 check to members of the Payson High School student government for their accomplishments during the school year.
The Blue Ridge defense held Longhorn Payson Herring to just 48 yards on 15 carries. His longest run was only eight yards.
Slade Gibson is stepping down as president of Payson Little League, and is asking for a qualified volunteer to soon fill the position.
